From Corning (two routes) Quick route:
--Take I-86E (Rt.17E) to Rt. 352E (Dennison Parkway)
--Turn right at intersection of Rt. 225 and Rt. 352. Landmarks: Rite Aid drug store, Dunkin
Donuts.
--Follow Rt. 225 (landmarks: small plaza, cemetery, Sullivans Kitchen and Bath). Rt. 225 takes a right at the Bryne Dairy.
Follow it for several miles leaving the City of Corning and going into the Town of Caton.
--Rt. 225 intersects with Rt. 32 at a 4-way stop. Continue straight
onto Rt. 32.
--Continue on Rt. 32 for several miles and turn left at intersection of Rt. 32
and Rt. 106 (note sign pointing left to Elmira). Rufus Tanner House is 7.5 miles from this
intersection on the left at the corner of Bartholomew Rd. and Rt. 32
--OR-- THIS ROUTE IS
BEST WHEN TRAVELING IN THE DARK (approx. 22 miles to the B&B from Corning).
--Take I-86E (Rt.17E) to Exit 48 (Rt. 352) right ramp.
--Turn right at top of ramp and follow 352 through Big Flats and into Elmira
(landmarks along Rt. 352: homes, oil storage tanks, Tags Restaurant & Bar,
community park, Oldies But Goodies, fields, Drive In, Welcome to Elmira
sign).
--Rt. 352 becomes Water St in Elmira.
--Continue on Water
St. and
take a right at Walnut
St.
(McInerny Funeral Home on corner) cross over the bridge and continue on Walnut St. Walnut will merge into Broadway at Kountry
Krullers.
--Continue on Broadway to intersection of Broadway and Rt. 328S. (landmarks
along the way: mini-mart, school, Pizza Hut).
--Turn right onto 328S and follow it for five miles (continue through the
flashing yellow light - do not take the Pine City exits).
--Take a right at County Rt. 78 (Sagetown), and go 2/10 mile to Bartholomew Road. Rufus Tanner House is on the right on the corner of
Bartholomew Rd. and Sagetown Rd. Look for the driftwood!
From the west on I-86/Rt. 17 (Corning/Horseheads area) to
Elmira
--Take Exit 56 (Note: there is no Exit 55)
--Turn right onto Church St.
--Continue on Church St. count six lights and turn left onto Clemens Center Parkway/Rt.14
S.
--Continue on Rt. 14S for about 3 miles (crossing over Cedar St.) and pick up Rt. 328S at intersection.
--Follow Rt. 328 for about five miles going through the flashing yellow light
(do not take the Pine City exits).
--Take the first right (County Rt. 78) (Sagetown) after the flashing yellow light
and go 2/10 mile to Bartholomew Road. Rufus Tanner House is on the right at the
corner of Bartholomew
Rd. and Sagetown Rd. Look for the
driftwood!
From the east (Binghamton) on I-86/Route 17 to Elmira.
--Take Exit 56 -- turn left to Water St.
--Continue on Water
St. take
left at Madison
Ave. (car
dealership on corner) and go over bridge (Madison becomes Sly Ave then Pennsylvania Ave.)
--Continue on Pennsylvania and at third light turn left onto Clemens Center Parkway (Rt. 14S).
--Continue on Clemens
Center Parkway (Rt. 14S) crossing over Cedar St. Pick up Rt. 328S at the next
intersection. (Rt. 14S-Clemens
Center Parkway -merges into Rt. 328S). Stay on Rt. 328S for about five miles.
--Take the first right after the flashing yellow light County Rt. 78 (Sagetown/Caton)
--Go 2/10 mile to Bartholomew Road. Rufus Tanner House is on the right at the
corner of Bartholomew
Rd. and Sagetown Rd. Look for the driftwood!
From Mansfield, PA/Rt.
15:
--Head north and pick up Rt. 328 at Tioga Junction.
--Follow Rt. 328 (it is approximately a twenty-five minute drive passing through
Jackson Summit, Trowbridge, Millerton). You will cross the New
York State
line and a bridge
--Turn left onto County Rt. 78 (Sagetown).
--Go 2/10 mile to Bartholomew Road
(second right) Rufus Tanner House is on the corner. Look for the
driftwood! -- OR ---Head north (it is about a twenty-five minute drive
from Mansfield to
Rufus Tanner House).
--Pick up Rt. 6 at Mansfield
heading east, turn onto Route 549 (you will pass signs for Roseville,
Daggett, Mosherville).
--Rt. 549 will merge with Rt. 328.
--Follow Rt. 328 - you will cross the New
York State
line and a bridge
--Turn left onto County Rt. 78 (Sagetown-Caton).
--Go 2/10 mile to Bartholomew Road
(second right) Rufus Tanner House is on the corner.
There are two entrances: Feel free to
park in the driveway to unload luggage since the main entrance is on the side
porch. The drive to the parking lot is just past the grape arbor.
You can also enter the B&B from the parking lot by using the stone
walkway behind the fence and entering using the French door on the deck. |
