-Sept. 11: Mark Twain River Trail Mountain Bike Ride, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Meet at the Grove Street boat launch and take a 5-mile-long round-trip ride west on the dirt river trails. Learn about Mark Twain's humorous thoughts on bicycling. Co-sponsored by the Finger Lakes Mountain Bike Club. Fee: $10/rider.

On The River Canoe and Kayak Rentals (607) 215-6692. Fees: $35-per-boat, per-day. Includes paddles, life vests and transportation to starting point as long as it’s between Bottcher’s Landing in Big Flats and Grove Street boat launch in Elmira.
